St Joseph's Catholic Kindergarten Blessing and Opening

28 Oct 2020

St Joseph's Catholic Kindergarten officially opened its doors and welcomed children in January 2020. Plans to hold the Blessing and Opening were delayed due to COVID-19, so on Wednesday, 28th October 2020 we were able to gather together for this joyous occasion.

Bishop Michael and Miss Leesa Jeffcoat (Director), led the official Opening and Blessing celebrations.

We were joined by guests Fathers Peter, John,Terry, Gasper and Sister Mary Della as well as Federal and State politicians/representatives and Bundaberg Mayor Jack Dempsey. Principals Dan McMahon, Madonna Davitt and Mark Fox were present to celebrate with our Kindy Director Kay Harling, staff and Kindy children and families. Other invited guests included Tony Madden architects, and the project manager from Murchie Constructions.

Leesa has been a tremendous support of this Kindy project from the beginning and we are grateful for her ongoing, unwavering support of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School.

The Kindy building is a magnificent building - inside and out- and the many learning spaces are very inviting and appealing. We receive numerous comments about the attractive, welcoming entrance and enticing spaces for fun, play learning. It is though, more than a building. It is the staff, children and famiies who breathe life into this special structure.

We have developed a strong relationship and connection between the school and Kindergarten. Kindy children come over to our Learning Hub to borrow books and love going to music lessons with Mrs Sweetapple. Kindy children and staff join with St Joseph's children and staff for special celebrations, occasions and activities.

We would like to recognise Trish Garrad's contribution, organisation, hard work and leadership in supporting this special occasion to come to fruition.

We also give thanks to Glenn Dunn, our groundsman for all his work, in a short space of time, in getting our grounds and gardens looking so amazing.
