School Profile

We are a Catholic Primary School based on Gospel values and the Charism of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. St Joseph’s Catholic School is situated in the Bundaberg CBD and accepts enrolments from the whole Bundaberg district and surrounding areas. We are a proud school in the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton, and are closely aligned to the Bundaberg Parish. We have a small 'family-like' atmosphere through the efforts of our very active parent community in partnership with staff.

As a Reef Guardian School Member, St Joseph’s participates annually in the Reef Guardian Schools Future Leaders Eco Challenge day. As an environmentally friendly school we care for Milbi, our pet turtle, engage in potato growing competitions, are involved in ‘Cut the Glow to Help Turtles Go’ public awareness campaign with Mon Repos Conservation Park. Woongarra Scrub tree planting and nude food encouragement as well as gardening and litter awareness campaigns are part of our school’s culture.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is a registered eSmart school. Smart is an initiative of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, a national charity committed to protecting children from violence.  This foundation has developed a guided framework that is used to manage cybersafety and wellbeing. eSmart has helped the whole school community embrace the benefits of technology and has reduced our students’ exposure to cyberspace risks such as cyberbullying, identity theft, online sexual predation and accessing or sending inappropriate images and content.

St Joseph’s is committed to providing a safe and enriched learning environment that includes the use of technology. We are proud of our eSmart status and work diligently to maintain this status each year.  We regularly update cybersafety practices and integrate these into our wellbeing policies, establishing clear procedures to deal with incidents, and delivering curriculum around the smart, safe and responsible use of technology.

To be SMART! SAFE! And RESPONSIBLE ON-LINE! Is one of the six non-negotiables practiced at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.

We offer a Better Buddies Program, Band and Instrumental Program, participation annually in the OPTIMINDS challenge, participation in the Readers’ Cup Challenge, involvement in Choir and Speech Eisteddfods, Specialist teachers for Science and Music.
