The Board meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30pm in the staffroom of St Joseph’s School.
Meetings are conducted using the format provided in the Diocesan School Board Constitution.
Our meetings always begin with prayer and Board Formation. There is also annual revisiting of the Special Religious Character of our school. St Joseph’s has a proud history beginning with St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, which we believe, along with the school motto of “Growing Together as One” provide philosophies that should be central and at the forefront of all that we do.
Board Education uses the “Defining features of the Catholic School” as a major source of continuing education. Consistent financial reporting is a component of our meetings as is school policy development - now more streamlined following changes in the DCEO policy methods.
The most valuable role of the School Board is the ongoing development of the Catholic ethos of the school. It also provides a sounding board in providing advice on any matters referred to it by the Principal, overseeing prudent financial management of the school and developing policies on matters of importance to the school..
Having a diverse group of people who are not involved in day to day school activities can give a broader view of shared wisdom to deliberations, in a confidential supportive and prayerful environment.
